Wanted: A Marked Proclivity for Slothfulness.
In a world where working hard is God and mottos like “no pain, no gain” run rampant, Marc Allen’s recent manifesto, The Type-Z Guide to Success is like a gentle dew from heaven that nutures my productive-slacker sensibilities. Hell, if I do create my own reality why not live life “in a relaxed and easy manner” and at the same time kick some metaphorical ass? This gives new meaning to work smarter, not harder. The point Mr. Allen makes is that with a little persistence, focus, and a written plan he calls an “ideal scene”, even the professional slacker can achieve monumentus success.
Sounds simple, but what a profound shift in my thinking! This message is a soothing salve for my soul. I can’t tell you how it’s already effected my life. So many people believe they have to live the type- A lifestyle where “hard work pays off” especially when you “put your nose to the grindstone.” This may work for some and that’s great (go you), but for most people it winds up being a frenetic spin-cycle with no end in sight. I say stop the madness, come back towards the light, and crack open a cold one. It’s all about enjoying the ride “in a relaxed and easy manner, in a healthy and positive way…”
Amen brother.
